Bio

Angelica Allen-McMillan, Ed.D., is an author, speaker, executive coach, and creator of The Niyama Method™, a leadership framework that helps PK–12 educational leaders navigate complexity with greater clarity, capacity, and rhythm.

Over a career spanning more than twenty-five years, she served at every level of New Jersey's public education system—from classroom teacher and assistant principal to founding principal and chief school administrator, assistant superintendent, superintendent, county superintendent, and Acting Commissioner of Education. Those experiences shaped her belief that the conditions surrounding people profoundly influence leadership, relationships, decision-making, and long-term outcomes.

She is also the author of Dear Teacher, Meet My Child, a practical guide that helps families better understand schools, strengthen partnerships with educators, and advocate thoughtfully for their children.

Through coaching, speaking, writing, and teaching, Angelica continues to explore the conditions that shape how people lead, learn, make decisions, communicate, and care for one another within complex systems.

My Inspiration

The superintendent carrying the weight of decisions that affect thousands of students, educators, and families. The educator striving to meet every child's needs while balancing expectations that never seem to stop. The parent wondering whether to speak up, afraid of saying the wrong thing. And the child, whose experience is shaped by every decision the adults around them make.

What I’m Exploring Now

Understanding the conditions that shape how people lead, learn, make decisions, communicate, and care for one another within complex systems. My work explores how increasing awareness of those conditions helps individuals respond more intentionally, strengthen relationships, and create sustainable change.
